I am reminded by this of the discussion in Jean Webster's DADDY-LONG-LEGS, set in an American women's college (probably Vassar?), about whether it is possible to swim in a swimming pool full of raspberry jelly (or jello, for our American cousins).

Does anyone know? Could the experiment be tried out this summer in a children's inflatable paddling pool?
