Thanks Mike. Why objectionable? Well, I suppose I associate this sensibility with superiority and exclusiveness. May be that's a historical accident and we can all, male and female, rich and poor, etc, aspire to be 'perfect and gentle knights', (I know I'm jumbling my epochs here but that's the line of descent). What's so good about AR is that he does offer that possibility but I'm not so sure about Carruthers. and his ilk.
What I'd like to know is how does the R o S fit with Chandlers terminal Irish shenanigans?
