According to John Woodcock Graves, John Peel's dogs were "Ranter and Ringwood, Bellman and True". Tricky to make two syllables out of True. On the other hand, Graves is not wholly reliable: he located Peel in Troutbeck whereas he actually lived in and around Caldbeck (and is buried in the graveyard of St Kentigern's Church, there -- gravestone nicely decorated with hunting horns).
