I never doubted you for a minute. As you say, divided by more than a common language. Any improvement on the method for hanging a rudder on the transom would be welcome. Surely the process of trying to get that piece of hardware attached as the wind whips around you while teetering precariously off the stern is one of the more frustrating aspects of getting under sail in a dinghy.

Thanks for the link - I think the availability of different types of hardware on either side of the Pond is quite telling.
