Sorry, Peter. I think I disagree. Nearly everyone who has written to me about the last issue of MOSS has said how much they enjoyed the shortened stories - and they are the one of the things that outsiders (like my father) have remarked on favourably when glancing through the journal. So I'm very grateful to Adam for pulling it all together and for everyone who contributed for letting their material appear in MOSS. I think that communication between the two forums can do nothing but good in extending our experience of Ransome - and if that means a two-way communication, I'd like that too.

I know from experience with other literary groups, such as the Dorothy Dunnett and Violet Needham societies, that many readers and writers are not yet up to speed electronically, and that printing extracts from discussion groups can give people the flavour of what this e-world is about. Of course it wouldn't be appropriate for everything on Tarboard to appear in MOSS, but unusual quirky items like the shortened novels, or reflective mood pieces like Ed's, that would work in permanent printed form and that will undoubtedly (in my opinion!) appeal to a wide readership do seem worth including.

Joy
