"Mrs Stainthorpe, nee Georgina Rawdon-Smith 1914-1967"

It's true that characters in books are just that- characters in books. On the other hand, it's impossible not to be influenced by the reality of those who are said to be the inspiration for them. I know I was intrigued to work with 'Roger's daughter' (Barbara Altounyan). It counts. And, probably coincidentally, her father was a real Roger- aviator and daring scientist.

So it's rather saddening to think that the indomitably cheerful and energetic 'Nancy Blackett' died so young.
