I have booked into Low Bank Farm in May.

Yeah.....

Does anybody know if we can hire a sailing boat on Windermere or Coniston?

PS Mr Lewis recent notes on the Survey of the Island in MM deserve some comment. Firstly AR was well aware of the flaws in compasses and allowing for compensating them - read his travles around the Baltic in the yacht to see his awareness of this problem.

IN SW the survey has at least one bearing to a 3/4 point which suggests an accuracy of 2.5 degrees or thereabouts.

The length from the X to the KRAAL provides the base line which allows for the errors to be reduced by using multiple sights. John has done this on the marked plan.

My cheap compass has the 64 naval points not just 32.

There are errors in AR's map but there is also pleasure in the idea of the survey.
