In answer to your earlier query, train or car? You'll certainly benefit from a car when you get there, if time is at all tight. Or you could hire bikes I suppose.
(One advantage of a car is you could divert via East Anglia and take in Pin Mill, Secret Water and the Nancy Blackett...)
