My daughter Able-Seaman Annabel, aged 8, has come up with a descrepancy which I haven't yet seen noted anywhere. On p 130 of WH,(Red Fox edition) the mumpified Nancy is semaphoring from her window. The Able-Seaman noted that the letter she is signalling is Q. Now the only Q in Nancy's message - before Mrs Blackett intervenes - is the very first letter of "Quick", BEFORE Dot finds her piece of paper to take down the words. But the picture shows Dot already writing. Am I an anorak? Is the Able-Seaman? Or, did Nancy repeat the first letters?
