There is a TAR resident in Geraldine, which is 44°S, about 80 miles south of Christchurch, NZ. I think that is just south of Hobart, Tasmania. He came all the way to England for one of our Literary Weekends.
As for the North Pole, on the railway line past Wormwood Scrubs in London, there is a signal box marked North Pole Junction
