Thanks for the link, Joy - good article. I think Nicholas Tucker is good on children's fiction and good on Ransome, albeit a bit critical at times. He gave a stimulating talk to the 1993 Pulborough Lit Weekend which did not go down too well in some quarters, although some of us admired his courage, and thought he had a point. Unfortunately, Tucker kept referring to 'Secret Waters' (sic), which lost him a great deal of credibility. No matter how well you have read a book, if you can't get the title right you don't sound convincing. Which is why I nitpicked about Thorstein not being on the Mere. . .
