Don’t try it! IF the methanol had been 100% burned to carbon dioxide, it would be OK, but this is highly unlikely, especially if the taste is still there. It’s extremely nasty stuff, best known for causing headache and blurred vision, often followed by blindness. Other effects can include serious nerve damage, coma and death (though you probably wouldn’t get the necessary 1 g/kg body weight using the D&Gs’ method). One of the things that happens to methanol in the body after it’s inhaled or swallowed is conversion to formaldehyde – think embalming fluid.
