SCAN for "SCHOOL" in COOT CLUB

One item indicates that Tom is at home on weekends during
term-time.

And yet, when Tom goes back to school, apparently he will
not be able to go sailing, even if he is at home on weekends.
Sounds almost like a contradiction here.

Another item is a hint that Dick is under twelve years old.

The last entry is really about the Admiral's brother, so has
nothing to do with Dick's or Tom's schools.

Not all that much evidence regarding Tom's school.

CC CH3:

He began by unloading Titmouse, bringing rope and
blocks and paint and screws and hinges into the shed. Then
he brought in a little oil-stove that he had got from a boy at
school in exchange for a pair of rabbits that were really not
well fitted for voyaging in a small boat.

CC CH4:

The Death and Glories had found it almost as soon as the coots
had begun to lay one bit of pale dead reed upon another. That
was a long time ago now, in term-time, when Port and Starboard
were away at school, and Tom could get on the river only at
week-ends.

CC CH7:

"And is that the Titmouse?" asked Mrs. Barrable, looking
along the dyke. "You do keep her smart."

"She wants another coat of paint, really," said Tom. "I've
got the paint, but I don't want to put it on till the end of the
hols. You see it won't matter her being wet when I have to
go to school."

CC CH9:

"By the way," said the Admiral, "I suppose he CAN swim?"

"We both can," said Dorothea. "Dick got first prize at
school for men under twelve."

"Boys," said Dick, but every one had understood.

CC CH13:

"And where is Dick to sleep tomorrow night?" said the
Admiral. "There's only room for four in the Teasel. We'll
even have to give up the voyage to Horsey."

"I'll lend you Titmouse for that," said Tom. "It won't
matter so long as I'm not in her... and I shan't be able to use
her anyhow."

"Rubbish," said the Admiral. "Why, in another ten days
you'll be back at school and not able to sail at all. Now listen
to me. First of all, you've promised to skipper the Teasel..."

CC CH22: (Admiral is speaking...)

"That's Boater's Hill," she said, "where we used to go for
picnics, just the right distance out of Beccles on a summer
afternoon. My brother Richard caught a grass snake there
and got beaten afterwards for taking it to school with him
and letting it get loose in the muddle of a lesson."
