All possible. And this would be the end of the 19th century, a very dangerous age for wars and infectious diseases. Think that TB was highly infectious, often fatal, much more common than HIV nowadays. Similarly later, when we were wondering what happened to Bob Blackett... WW1 plus the Spanish 'Flu. Amazing that anybody made it at all.
