My belief, although it is not directly supported by the text, is that the Amazons were not allowed out camping on Wild Cat Island that summer, not because of the GA, but because of Uncle Jim. In SA Ch 11, Peggy says:
"He (CF) even asked mother to make us leave him alone ...It ended by his forbidding us to come near him."
I imagine that the only way that Mrs Blackett was able to achieve this was by keeping the Amazons at Beckfoot. If they were on Wild Cat Island, there would have been no way to keep them away from CF.
