I don't think that discouraging the discussion of certain topics on TarBoard is a case of freedom of speech being curtailed, It is a case of this group deciding (with the help of our moderator) to avoid some topics because they generate more heat than light and are, at best, only very tangentially related to the supposed subject of our discussion, Ransome and his books.
If you strongly desire to discuss any particular topic which is not welcomed here, then there are a myriad of other fora where people will argue, abuse and agree with you to your heart's content. Just don't expect to be welcomed if you sound off here. Its not Speaker's Corner, it is a club for Ransome lovers. We may occasionally stray into other subjects but banging on about your own non-Ransome related hobbyhorse is just plain rude.

After all didn't Ransome marry a foreigner to give her his British citizenship. ;-)
