Unless you are self catering, the nearest food to B G is Coniston village, 10 mins in a boat plus 10 on foot or 30-40 mins on foot. I remember it as a very pleasant walk but it was a warm night and we only did it the once. Same applies if you have a car, as we did but want to enjoy the pubs and several pints of Bluebird.
