In Missee Lee, the nautical version of "YES" is written as "aye-aye" whereas in ALL the other eleven volumes in it written as "aye, aye".
Wonder why the difference? American publisher vs. the English Jonathan Cape publisher perhaps?
My ML book is printed by The Macmillan Co of New York, 1942, hardback.
Another oddity is the spelling of "today" or "to-day" as both seem to be used equally freely.
Wonder how many typo errors there were in the Rosetta Stone. That could create a bit of confusion too. But then, what if the ancients proof read it, and found a mistake - they couldn't very well use "white out" to fix, and certainly the idea of backspace, strikeover would not work either.
