To let people know, there's been an item on the local news of an initiative called "Fix the Fells" with the aim of raising £5m to repair the most eroded (and thus popular) footpaths in the Lake District. This is part of the Upland Path Landscape Restoration Project, a joint enterprise by English Nature, the Lake District National Park Authority, and the Natuional Trust. They have a website:
www.fixthefells.co.uk
You can see which paths still need work doing and how this will be carried out. For example, some of the Coniston area ones have been repaired but others need work especially Goats Hause to Walna Scar.
While individuals might like to donate, I wonder if TARS might think about some "corporate" donation (with perhaps publicity for both sides?)
