Yes, it's a good read, with goodies (Caesar and his buddies) and not-so-goodies. I read it when I was fairly young- it had the advantage of being pretty straight-up Latin. It was some years before (still at school) I began to catch on to the idea that it was actually a great example of propaganda. Caesar's account was the only one in circulation. He wasn't standing for election exactly, but he *was* reaching for authority. So treat the whole account with the same total confidence and belief as you did Dubya stepping on to that carrier and declaring hostilities over.
