As a non-member of TARS I stopped reading the "plea for discussion"
thread as soon as it became clear that it referred to matters of TARS
business rather than to Ransome's works. I don't want to eavesdrop.
But before I stopped I got some idea of what it was about. So I
can see that the article by John Ezard on page 6 of today's Guardian
(Thursday May 7) is related to it.

The Guardian is of course the paper for which Ransome workrd when it
still had Manchester in its name. The article, headed "Ransome fans
wary of commercialism" is accompanied by a picture of Ransome and a
large picture showing Brigit, Taqui and Susan at the stern of the
Nancy Blackett. I note that in the text Brigit is described as
"the original of one of the Amazons", so perhaps I shouldn't believe
the rest of it. However, unlike so many newspaper items, it does not
seem to be trying to overplay stories of division and dispute;
its tone seems retrained.
