Well if you (the car you hired) are/is insured and you have a $500 excess, you still pay for the first $500 of any accident. If the damage is less than $500 you pay the lot? Is that what an “excess” is? They are normally high for cars with under 25y old drivers if that driver is involved in an accident; and even higher for under 21y!
