By the way, all Tarboard postings are protected by copyright, and may
not be copied and distributed without the consent of the author of the
posting.

some boards explicitly claim, in their terms of service, rights on anything posted on
them.

e.g. Manchester Guardian Terms of Service has

"(ii) you grant us a non-exclusive, perpetual, royalty-free, worldwide
licence to republish any material you submit to us in any format,
including without limitation print and electronic format"

I am minded to formally add such a, however already obviously implied,
condition to the Tarboard signup conditions, to protect myself against :
people complaining about any archives I have set up/set up; demanding
I spend my time deleting every post of theirs sent on a Tuesday; etc. etc.

If the exact format of the board is also copied

the exact format of individual posts is pretty much dictated by the open
source software ( definition of "open source") used to produce it, so not sure on that.

, then the consent of the Tarboard Website owner will also be needed.
This can all be checked with the UK Copyright Act. These rights are
enforceable.

enforceable on the same basis that suppers at the Savoy are free to all
