First Editions -- When I buy books (and I am a regular Bookaholic, which is just one of my collecting problems) I buy for the content, not necessarily the "material value". I use my books as reference, read them and treasure them. They are valuable not for "what" they are materially; but for the knowledge and wonderful ideas they contain. I recognize that some folks put more value on the material aspects (rarity, etc.) of their books, which is fine and dandy, and there is definitely a place for that type of possesion; but I am not interested in possessing objects which must be forever guarded and watched over to make sure they do not get dirtied or stolen.

Peter, your Ransome books, to me, would be the more "valuable" as they are read and loved and used the way books (or anything else) should be!
