The guest on last night's Johnny Walker show on BBC Radio 2 there was a singer called Polly Paulusma:
Her first album is called "Scissors in my pocket". She says that she used to read S&A and was inspired to build a raft on the river at the bottom of their garden. Her understanding Mother allowed her to launch it but insisted on a painter attached to the shore. Polly had taken a pair of scissors in her pocket in order to cut the painter when the raft was successfully floating. Fortunately for all concerned the raft gently sank. Hence "Scissors in my pocket".
