There has been much in the British press - well at least the Times and Guardian - about new and improved laws regarding the purchase, and possession, et cetera of knives. I suppose files will be registered soon to prevent them being used to convert one of Susan's butter knives to a shiv.
I can see it now - the children camping on Wildcat Island, and Sammy coming to investigate the burglary. But, before he begins his interrogation, he has all four up against trees and skins them down, searching for knives. He has to measure each knife to see if the blade is less or greater than three inches, and check their ages from their mandatory identification cards. A file is found, and taken as evidence that they plan on making knives from spoon handles. Soon, all four are 'cuffed, put in leg irons, and taken off to the local slammer.
However, I suppose Lawyer Farland would say, "The value of evidence... fluctuates with its context."
Makes as much sense as Canada's gun registry law.
