Yes, while WCI was no doubt the 'spiritual home' for the Swallows, after 'Swallowdale' they never went there again (in the books anyway). May be it just wouldn't have been the same.

Having tried to return 'home' myself, I have come to the reluctant conclusion that life's journey should be linear rather than circular, ie there's always somewhere new to end up. In view of the disastrous events mentioned in the thread below, home, and the sudden absence of it, is in the thoughts of many of us right now.
