Thanks Ross for the enquiry. I live in Bangkok which is about 500 kms north of Phuket and faces onto the Gulf of Thailand so there was no damage done to this side of the country. The damage was slightly limited (if 10,000 dead is limited!)on the Western Coast by the proximity of the mountains to the sea. If the Tsunami had come up the Gulf of Thailand, the damage would have been horrendous.
We are fine in Bangkok but terribly conscious of the hardship caused, as you can imagine, a very quiet new year.
