Hi,

>Query for Sayoko : Do Japanese AR enthusiasts by any chance have a special feel for ML? (Different country of course but same part of the world.)

My favourite of the 12 Books are mostly Lakeland stories such as WH, SD, WD, PP, PM, and CC. These are more or less the similar to many of my Ransome mates here, with WH, PP, WD always seemingly keep the best three. The story is perfectly well structured, and most of all, the books are full of joy, pleasure and happiness of sailing and camping.
Sometimes it seems that we Japanese readers have much more strong attachment to these stories especially because we are not there. In this sense we share with the children their longing for the Lakeland or the Broads.

Unfortunately I don't have special close feeling with ML for its setting in China, mostly because, as Owen points out, it is used as a land of captivation, exotic (or even primitive), never pleasant, on the contrary to the Lakeland as the place for their "Real Life".

However, I do admire Miss Lee as very very impressive character with strong will and somewhat a little sad heroism every time I read the book.

Thanks for inquring - hope it helps!
