Having just delivered my two daughters to Los Angeles airport for their return to Australia after a month with me in America, I had time yesterday to reread PM in Denver airport as I awaited a plane. I found a mistake in the book. It relates to the pigeons and the old alarm method from PP.

At the start Nancy tells the D's that the bell has been disconnected, but when SH sends a pigeon the bell rings and causes some consernation in the household.

I can not see that Nancy would have reconnected the bell in the meantime as that would require an explanation to the GA. Something I think Ruth would not want to do.

Just as an aside my wife gave me the plans for Simon Watts Norwegian Pram for Christmas. I have actually started the process, as my daughters occupied my computers, which gave me garage time for the last month and an inquistive 10 year old to share the building process. (Mike I will send you pictures as soon as I am back at work and not on a phone line).

I bought about $500 worth of white oak from Houston Hardwoods which gives me the bulk of the timber. James and I had to sort through a pallet load of 14 footers to find the planks we wanted but I got them for $3.50 per board foot. No wonder boat lumber is so expensive upto $6.50 per board foot from the different web sites. Maybe one plank in ten was any good the rest was flawed for boat building.

The boat is about 11.5 feet long with a lapstrake construction. I bought 1 inch planks and will need to plane them down which was cheaper than cutting out three planks from a 2 inch plank. But I am learning for my next task which is Swallow.
