I was distraught when I read Ian's message, and resolved to add a dozen jars of Bovril to my shopping list immediately and sulk about the fall of the British Empire. But then I wandered out into the kitchen and found that I am halfway through a jar of yeast-based Bovril - so the manufacturers can evidently fool some of us all of the time.
