No - simply personal observation. I found if one beer is good, thirteen are best to drown the sorrows of a lost world.

If Peter H lived anywhere but Chester I could believe he was a spy - but Chester no - it just says plain vanilla Englishmen, not one of those pigeon loving Oxford men. I can not see a spy having his sense of humour. So no he is on balance not a spy.

I like the article - it lets me see how AR could create John and Roger at once. And it mirrors the attitude of CF towards the world in general, remember him fixing the Swallow in SD - classic AR thought and style.

But then again I am biased I think PD is a real human - none of this fairy tale stuff.

I have the book Working Boats of England and it shows the Norfolk Wherry and talks about their design. It is a great read. Must scan it.

Rattletrap may have been a Wolseley?
