One must be "PC", as in the equally curious coinage of "Mumbai" for a city founded by the Portuguese and named "Bom Baia"!

Seriously, my dictionary of PNG Pidgin spells it thus. I believe that a true pidgin uses the grammar of one language with the vocabulary of at least one other language, so China Coast Pidgin used Chinese grammar and English and Portuguese words.
