This does not surprise me. The National Trust has an outstanding record in preserving properties and other artefacts. But when it come to managing land it's record is very much the reverse. Speaking to those affected locally, in NT managed lands, it would appear that the NT exhibits the arrogance and ignorance of the typical absentee landlord of the 1800's. Some tenants dare not speak out against the NT for fear of being dispossessed when tenancies come to an end.
Perhaps the time has come for the NT to be broken up.
I appreciate that there are lots of arguments for and against the NT, which are probably not appropriate for Tarboard.
