I've been rereading AR's BOHEMIA IN LONDON -what a delight.
I'm especially fond of the chapter TALKING, DRINKING, AND SMOKING (WITH A PROCESSION OF DRINKING SONGS)
Of course, AR's Bohemian life can't even begin compare to that of those members of the THE LAKE SIDE CHAPTER OF THE EAST HARRISON CHOWDER AND MARCHING BAND SOCIETY whose activities are still well remembered by a few hardy souls, AND the local members of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police from the Harrison Lake, British Columbia, Canada, detachment.
This august society began while a group of kindred spirits were watching a British TV series, Reilly: Ace of Spies. Reilly and Ransome knew each other during AR's time in Russia.
The TV series, his book, and such societies are recommended.
