A court case here in Dunedin, New Zealand about the salvage (or not) of a solo American yachtie Bill Kimball in “Shady Lady” by a fisherman in fishing boat “Sea Emerald” after a maritime rescue off Bluff/Stewart Island.

The fisherman David Williams wants $350,000 and $50,000 for saving the yachtie. He wants salvage or ownership of the yacht (and has been rescued twice himself!). Shades of WD where John was worried about the Goblin being seized (and CC/BS). The New Zealand "Maritime Safety Authority" says he can have compensation for his time, or salvage if he follows the rules, but not both.
