In GN, CF does not believe that the GN eggs Dick has found are worth even £5; but he is finally convinced when Mr Jemmerling is prepared to write him a cheque for £50 or even £100! Then he agrees to go back to the loch and photograph the Great Northerns on their nest (chapters 10,11; Mutiny Aboard & The Egg-Collector... ).
In WD, John leads the pilot to think that the Captain of the Goblin is having a drink or a party in the cabin (chapters 19 & 20: Signal for a Pilot & Grown Up Noises Below).
And in ML CF says he is the “Lord Mayor” of San Francisco, not a very republican title! (chapters 14,15: ... SOS & Missee Lee ...).
