What do you mean by "go epoxy" John? Deks Olje is a combination of a number of vegetable oils, and comes in two kinds, Number One and Number Two. Both are usually sold in one litre cans. Number 1 goes on first, and you brush it on until the wood won't accept any more. Initially, several coats can be put on, one straight after the other, but after three or four coats, you'll have wait for a while for the stuff to soak in before putting another coat on. After about ten coats no more will go in, so then it is time to put on a couple of coats of the Number 2. This is much thicker and varnish-like than the number 1 and will withstand weather and UV light much better. Maintenance is usually an annual coat of number 2, unless you have left the boat out in some very harsh weather, when you might have to build up the Number 1 again before recoating with Number 2. You are unlikely to need any more than one can of each. Clearly, the number 1 won't soak into the Dolfinite, but will run off it. This won't matter. The Number 2 will go over the Dolfinite, but whether it sticks to it or not I don't know. I can't see that it would matter if it didn't stick to it.
David.
