Perhaps they left the Imp (see WDMTGTS) on the mooring to await their return. I have seen this done on several offshore moorings and it works providing the tender is not run down by an errant vessel.
Alternatively thet could have hoisted Imp on board and lashed it to the cabin roof. Is this a possibility - could those who know the real life Goblin comment please?
