Something I noticed in the UK was that outside a number of butcher's shops game such as rabbits, hares and deer was still hung fully feathered or furred as the case may be. NZ is far more squeamish and meat here is chilled in refrigerated trays or tidily plastic wrapped.
Having worked on farms as a teen I'm not too squeamish about meat and am the official family fish gutter plus hook taker outer. Funnily enough, I go a delicate shade of green at dead bodies, especially the slightly older and flyblown ones, left in the garden by local cats.
