On our last long (8 month) stay in the UK my daughters became great fans of the miniature pork pies from the Carlisle ASDA: very popular picnic items.

Last month, when friends were coming from Carlisle for the eldest girl's wedding, I was solicited to ask them to bring a suitcase of pork pies with them. Unfortunately, I had to decline, owing to Canada's restrictions on importing meat products.

They had to make do with Battenburg cakes, also unobtainable here in Thunder Bay (except very expensively through the internet.)
