What if there are three sides to the arguement? Solaris is a Sci Fi novel about a planet which has very strange effects on the people studying it - effects which are not replicated by any other body in the known universe. Over the centuries three positions develop. The majority view: Solaris is inanimate, but something in its chemical makeup affets the minds of its researchers. The alternative view: Solaris is animate and is trying to talk to us. The politically correct view: Solaris is just one big headache and we should not waste anymore time trying to make sense of it.

Determining whether Rattletrap is or is not a Crossley is the gathering of preliminary evidence for a much bigger case. Ed, if you are following this thread, any chance of giving us all the relevant references to this strange vehicle?
