We need to be clear that AR invented a class of boat - which we can call the Ransome class for want of a better name. The earlier Swallows and Mavis are not of the Ransome class, these were real boats, Cochy is the only real Ransome class. The other boats are of interest historically but they do not represent the Ransome class.
If you are on Windermere with the number of drownings they have per year then I would want a weatherhelm boat.
