Laurence - Secret Water may have been deserted but the town was heaving with grockles (I'd call them something else but I'd get censored!)
On the subject of the book I do feel AR knew the area so wanted to do a book about it, and found that it was limited. I didn't mind the Amazons being brought in, it was the local Eels that spoilt the story - they just didn't seem beleivable.
