GRF made another throw away comment that sparked a train of thought. He said that AR in a letter home to Tabitha "made Egenia an Amazon, a pirate with a pistol". ( I think he may be paraphrasing Brogan).
Now I've always believed the original Amazons to have been Dora and Barbara Collingwood but maybe the model for Nancy was closer to home. It might explain why Egenia didn't object to Nancy 's name being given to their boat.
If this theory is true does it mean that AR is Peggy?
