Mike:

Sorry, no it was not fun, I think my point was to show the desparation that some people have to go to have children. Not like the Walkers who popped them out between naval postings. It is a very dehumanizing experience and much more lonely than birth and death because usually it just the two people alone or with others going through the same agony.

Ones humour like Roger's cheeky humour comes out in such instances. If I may tell a funny story: (if you get embarrased stop reading - it's ok Peter you can read on)

A friend was sent into the green room to provide the requisite sample to be then spun down before being put with his wife's harvested ovum.
He fell in the room, whilst part naked, and knocked himself unconcious. The room next door belonged to the Secretarial pool and they forced the door open. It was a very strange sight I can tell you.

I can just hear Roger's comments. I have many such stories, none of which are repeatable in anything like normal company. Althougth one about ......... Anne says no I can not tell that story.

But I ended up with two beautiful adopted daughters one who likes sailing and AR and has stood on the top of Coniston and the other who thinks her father is warped, and not of hemp either.

Now we are about to adopt one from China.

And it is getting cool enough to work on the Mary Anne again.

So as Peter said sometimes there are things happening that we can not all know about.

PS: I have told my daughter Eliza that I want to be there when her first born comes into the world. I have not seen a birth. When she made some comment I told her I had changed her nappy many times and cleaned up enough .... to be allowed the privilidge. I have already decided on a name: Susan, just got to tell Eliza.

The reason we like the SAD's so much is that they shared, a very uncommon thing in human life, much like this board. I was reading an op ed piece in the Wall Street Journal and the writer was bemoaning that his motehr in law had arrived and stayed as a result of Hurricane Katrina. Makes me think of what Holly Howe would have been like during WH, but at least mrs jackson had a sense of humour. He should be glad he still has a house.

Hurricane Rita is coming right towards us, the football game has been moved up till tonight, and there are refugees everywhere, all the water is gone in the stores and the hotels are full. Reminds me of Rio on Saturday morning.
