Thanks for the pointers, especially the one about the Ring Anderson Yard. If there's interest, I'll be glad to share some of my finding.

I live in Texas about 150 miles inland in the path of Rita. We have been told that we could still see category 1 hurricane winds here, but my but my biggest concerns are the possibility of tornados and, esp., the massive rains expected. Once when I lived closer to the coast, a regular old storm stalled on top of us and dumped over 17 inches in a couple of hours. Not fun.
