Not near Auckland I'm afraid - I now live in a small coastal village an hour out of Wellington.
Re: the NZ sailing books, the only one that rings a bell is 'Night Race to Kawhau' by Tessa Duder. VERY S&Aish with Father incapacitated and mostly non-sailing Mother finding sailor daughter essential to their survival in the dangerous waters of the Hauraki Gulf.
