I don't remember doing that. I've damaged a number of boats in my time, to my shame, not least by dropping a sea kayak of the roof of my (moving) car. I've never lost one at sea though. My experience of sinking clinker built boats comes from trying to encourage one to 'take up' water to swell the planking. Couldn't get it to sink, that was in brackish Broads water at Wroxham.
Obviously Swallow would have sunk given enough ballast but from memory Swallow didn't carry an enormous weight of lead. What would have been in the keel?
