The return to the island was actually 2 days after the conquering of
Kanchenjunga - the day after Mrs. Walker came to tea, and the day after
that was the sailing race during which Captain Flint and helpers made
the move. So if Kanchenjunga was climbed on August 11, the return to
the island was on the 13th and the grouse shooting on the Swallowdale
moors on the 14th.

If the grouse shooting was going to be on the 12th, they would have
had to have climbed Kanchenjunga on the 9th.

But I think in this case you have to believe Arthur Ransome.
August 9, 1931 was a Sunday (www.earth.com/calendar).
However, I don't think the Kanchenjunga expedition can have taken place
on a Sunday because Mary Swainson's woodman was working that day.
